20 Time Development!!

Good News! Progress has actually been made in my 20 Time Project! I was looking up ideas in class today and came across one that said to paint a mural. Painting has always been a secret passion of mine. It was kept secret because it's not on of my strong suits.

Anyway, I shared my excitement towards this idea with Chloe and Gigi (classmates who I'll be working with) where we all collaborated and put a twist on the original idea. The idea now in the works is to create more of a mosaic out of plastic bottle caps and more recyclable products. The artwork would not only make use of plastics but would also spread the message to recycle more.

One of our inspirations is definitely Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. Not very far from us, it's a beautiful piece of artwork in Philadelphia where a man made a mosaic out of this building and opened it up to the public. Walking through it, your eyes try to take it all in at once but it's not possible. Many hidden images and messages pop out the longer you stand and admire. None of us have been to this before but we've seen pictures online and it seems like a key element to our project.

Mr. Heidt also made the suggestion to contact the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program to ask for guidance and propose a mentorship. This would take our project to the next level because we would obtain someone who works with murals on a daily basis and give us insight on what direction we should take it in. Another possible mentor would be the art teacher at our school, Mr. Libby because he runs art club. Art club has painted some beautiful murals around the school and his input would be valued immensely.
